Columbia County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Hudson River Estuary Program invite community members to celebrate one of the Hudson Valley’s greatest assets: wetlands! This program explores our diverse wetlands, their economic and environmental values, and why we should conserve them. The event will feature a presentation by Laura Heady of the Estuary Program, and we will watch "Liquidity," a short documentary by Jeanne Vitale. To complete our night, we will take a walk along the nature trails at Mud Creek which provide the perfect setting to see the interesting plants and animals that call our wetlands home. Pamela Price, Certified Wildlife Biologist at Mud Creek ELC and Laura Heady will discuss the vital role wetlands play in clean water, biodiversity, flood mitigation and climate change as we explore our wetland connections. Please dress for the weather and wear shoes that can get wet. .
