Radios in Motion: 'Catskill Tuesday' Pitch Fest!
Carnegie Room, Catskill Library | Catskill, NY
Turn out or tune in for an all-day Pitch Fest at the WGXC Satellite Studio in the Carnegie Room of the Catskill Library!
Due to weather uncertainties and other unknowns, we're postponing the full-day remote broadcast from the Cone-E Island ice cream shop in Catskill we had planned for Tuesday, June 20.
Instead, our Radios in Motion Spring 2017 Pledge Drive will continue in full force from the Catskill Library – the home of "Catskill Tuesdays" on WGXC 90.7-FM.
Well, the "full force" part is where you (hopefully) come in…
Technically, June 20 is supposed to be the final day of our pledge drive – but alas, we have raised just barely more than half of our $20,000 goal to cover the most basic expenses to keep Wave Farm's WGXC on the air and moving forward.
Wouldn't it be amazing if we could raise the balance in one day?
Wouldn't it be a relief to get back to the diverse and eclectic yet consistently excellent programming you've come to love and rely on from WGXC?
Wouldn't it be empowering if you could help make this happen???
Well, come on, then…and join the pitch fest!
If you're in Catskill between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and you've got a few minutes or a few hours to share, why not join us in the Carnegie Room? Meet our Tuesday show hosts, see how we create a broadcast, participate in our special pledge drive programming, and make your own pitch to the listeners out there in Radio Land! You can try out your free-styling skills, speak your mind about why community radio is important to you, participate in an ongoing conversation with friends and neighbors, and help engage and inspire others to pledge their support for this vital organ of our own community!
9-11 a.m. Host Pete Lievense jump-starts "Catskill Tuesdays" with the WGXC Morning Show, a radio magazine show featuring local news, interviews with community leaders and personalities, a rundown of public meetings, local and regional events, with weather updates, and more about and for the community.
11 a.m.-Noon The Music Maestro Hour with host James White is a bi-monthly show featuring classic rhythm and blues, soul, gospel and funk.
Noon-2 p.m. Music for the Masses host Neva E. Wartell invites you on an excursion of sound and rhythm, where you will discover the music of established and emerging artists, both signed and unsigned, on the international music scene.
2-4 p.m. Special Pledge Drive Programming featuring a "Community Mic" – pull up a chair and share something about yourself and why you support community radio!
4-6 p.m. On the WGXC Afternoon Show, host Robert Tomlinson will be joined by several local luminaries who will share why they love hands-on, creative community radio for Greene and Columbia counties.
