A program of music by 17th century English composer Henry Purcell. The evening’s highlight is a semi-staged concert performance of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, a masterpiece of the Baroque age and first significant opera in English. The program also includes selections from Purcell’s incidental music for Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. Co-presented with Concerts in the Village directed by David Smith.
