The Thursday, April 28 Town Board Meeting has been changed to a Town Board Workshop meeting at 6 p.m.

The New York State Department of Transportation and the Towns of Claverack and Greenport host a public informational meeting regarding the replacement of the NYS Route 9H Bridge over the Taghkanic Creek. The meeting is intended to inform local residents, officials, businesses and agencies about the construction activities planned for the bridge. A presentation will be followed by a question and answer session where attendees will have an opportunity to speak about the project with representatives from NYSDOT and its contractor.

Wave Farm’s WGXC pleased to be presenting a series of free public workshops at local libraries as part of the Arts + Culture + Transmission program. Radio from The Field will introduce participants to environmental sound recording and to audio editing, to construct projects for radio and digital distribution. WGXC Mobile Studio Manager and artist Max Goldfarb will work with participants on how to create field recordings, edit audio, and construct projects, using free sound editing software, as a basis for giving voice to our local environments. During the two workshop sessions participants will produce a short, radio-ready production that will become a part of Wave Farm's WGXC archive. No previous experience necessary. The July 9-10 workshops at the Chatham Public Library are intended for adult participants.

A community meeting to discuss whether or not Hillsdale should adopt a Climate Smart Community Pledge will be held, sponsored by Hillsdale's Green Solutions Committee, and will feature a presentation by Robyn Reynolds of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Reynolds will outline the goals of the Climate Smart Community Pledge, which include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, saving taxpayers money, creating new jobs, and attracting new businesses and residents to Hillsdale. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

Artist Adam Frelin and architect Barbara Nelson won the Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge was chosen to receive up to $1 million for "Breathing Lights," which will be realized when, for two months, street-facing windows of hundreds of vacant buildings in Schenectady, Albany, and Troy will be illuminated. Frelin and Nelson will discuss the project and the process behind it.
