Some earth scientists are arguing for a new era in earth's history that may persist over geological timescales and they are calling it the Anthropocene Biosphere. Referring to the vast influence humans have had on the planet's species, and ecologies they are proposing that unless significant changes occur melding the biosphere with what they call the technosphere that mass extinctions will occur. In other words, the climate is changing, it's our fault and technology is going to save us.
