Did you know that global free trade agreements impact local family farmers, food labeling, and the quality of food on our plates? Join Food Sleuth Radio host and Registered Dietitian, Melinda Hemmelgarn, for her interview with Wisconsin-based organic farmer and family farm activist, Jim Goodman. Goodman explains how trade agreements, such as the Trans Pacific Partnership, benefit corporations, while threatening consumer freedom in the marketplace. Especially dangerous, he says, is the investor state dispute settlement provision, which allows corporations to sue any group over loss of future profit. Goodman describes the difference between food security and food sovereignty, and explains why he advocates for a farmer-controlled and consumer-oriented food system. Produced by Dan Hemmelgarn. From the studios of KOPN-FM in Columbia, Missouri.
