Monday Afternoon Show with Kieran Riley: Elizabeth Clark (Earth Opera) (Audio)

Sep 29, 2025

Today at 5 p.m. host Kieran Riley is joined by Elizabeth Clark to talk about upcoming performances of "Seeds Under Nuclear Winter: an Earth Opera," which will be happening in the sanctuary at Old Dutch Church in Kingston on October 3rd and 4th.

Seeds Under Nuclear Winter: An Earth Opera' is an immersive community experience of dreams, spiritual visions, and mythic stories through world and sacred music, performance art, dance, and experiments with light. The Earth Opera takes place in a post-apocalyptic atmosphere, and centers around finding light, beauty, and hope in dark times – and on our deep connection with all living things, our planet, and with each other. Orchestrated for harp, ethereal voices, South American/Andean instruments, cello, choir, drones, hammered dulcimer, piano, gongs, brass, ancient celtic Carnyx dragon horn, pipe organ, the 'Earth Opera’ steps into otherworldly realms and unfolds upon a non-linear and timeless path, similar to the way we dream. This experimental theater performance + immersive experience is being created especially for the entire sanctuary space of this church; Her choir balconies, altars, archways, architecture, and massive wall of pipe organ drone (2,221 pipes). The Earth Opera will be performed by a cast of 40 intergenerational performance artists, musicians, and dancers alongside mesmerizing immersive light projections throughout the church sanctuary.
