Albany plan would increase renewable energy

Scott Waldman in Capital New York reports New York would get half its energy from renewable resources, if a plan unveiled June 25 is fulfilled, with energy efficiency improved by 23 percent. The state would reduce carbon emissions by 40 percent from 1990 levels by 2030 under the proposal. New York currently gets under a quarter of its power from renewable sources. John Williams, director of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, introduced the plan, saying it was the, "“identification of what our primary issues of concern are." Over 100,000 public comments were received on the plan, NYSERDA officials said. Read the full story in Capital New York.
