Board committee okays note for capital projects

Nathan Mayberg reports in the Register Star the Columbia County Board of Supervisors Finance Committee approved a $13.52 million bank anticipation note Thurs., Aug. 29, to pay for planned capital projects. The financing will pay for an estimated $7 million project to upgrade emergency services equipment throughout the county, including raising the emergency radio frequency to high band. Columbia County 911 Coordinator Rob Lopez estimated the new frequency could cost $1.35 million. The project is expected to improve communications, particularly in the southeastern end of the county in Ancram, Copake and Gallatin, where there are communication dead spots.
