Twin counties receive Homeland Security grants

Ryan Anglim is reporting in The Daily Mail Greene and Columbia counties have been awarded funding for counterterrorism and emergency preparedness measures by the state of New York. The federal pass-through grants, provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency through its Homeland Security Grant Program, support regional preparedness efforts, including planning, organization and training. In an announcement Wed., Apr. 9, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said priority projects include efforts that build on the Citizen Preparedness Program, the development of effective cybersecurity programs and policies, and continued coordination of emergency management planning efforts. Greene County will receive $115,000; Columbia County, $90,000. Greene County Administrator Shaun Groden said, “Anytime the governor confirms the continuation of grants for emergency management is always a positive, especially when budgeting for the state has always been so contentious.” Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
