Hurley resident named New York state police superintendent

The Daily Freeman is reporting Hurley resident George P. Beach has been named New York state police superintendent. Beach, a lieutenant colonel, was unanimously recommended by the state police search committee launched by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo in April. Beach has more than 30 years experience in crisis response, operational planning, emergency management and public policy. Beach will replace Joseph D’Amico, who has served as superintendent since 2011. In a prepared statement released Tue., Jun. 7, Cuomo said Beach is “supremely qualified to serve as superintendent.” He called Beach one of New York's finest public servants.
