Coxsackie business park plan gets mixed reaction
Aug 02, 2013 7:04 am
Melanie Lekocevic reports in The Daily Mail a public hearing to gauge community reaction to a proposed new business park slated for Route 9W in Coxsackie drew a mixed reaction from those in attendance, Wed., Aug. 1. Most who spoke in favor of the idea were members of the business community, while local homeowners were generally against the proposed Fountain Flats Business Park. The project would be sited on a property approved in 1999, for a $1.3 million commercial greenhouse, later known as the Fernlea site. The Greene County Industrial Development Agency's preferred scenario for the site is a one-million-square-foot distribution center. The alternate development could be a mix of light industrial and/or distribution. Opponents expressed concerns over the environmental and visual impacts of project, and the consequences of increased traffic. The public comment period for the project will run through Aug. 19.
