The Schoharie News reports that a second natural gas pipeline is proposed for Schoharie County, this one from Kinder-Morgan's North East Direct (owned by Tennessee Gas). This pipeline will follow a similar path of the Constitution Pipeline, along I-88. The Constitution Pipeline has already received approval from Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. There are two public hearings scheduled about this second pipeline, one April 6 in Schoharie at the Days Inn & Suites, and another April 14 in Richmondville at the Radez Elementary School. The Schoharie County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution last month opposing the use of eminent domain against county residents in pipeline matters. Another pipeline, the 178-mile Pilgrim Pipeline, is proposed to move Bakken crude oil from Albany to Linden, NJ, through Albany, Greene, and Ulster counties, and send refined crude back to Albany, largely along the I-87 corridor. In Greene County, the proposed project veers east of Route 9W west of Sleepy Hollow Lake in Athens, and then back near the interstate around Leeds-Athens Road. After Catskill, the pipeline veers west of the interstate briefly around Cauterskill Road. So far, Rosendale, New Paltz, Woodstock, and Rhinebeck have also passed measures opposing the pipeline.
