Rensselaer County DA election is Abelove versus Donnelly

Jun 05, 2018 3:11 pm
Kenneth C. Crowe II reports in the Albany Times Union about the election for Rensselaer County District Attorney between incumbent Republican District Attorney Joel E. Abelove and East Greenbush town justice Mary Pat Donnelly. Abelove is a defendant in a criminal trial that begins in two weeks. Abelove says he is innocent of a felony perjury count and two counts of official misconduct, a misdemeanor, for how he handled a fatal Troy police-involved April 2016 shooting. Donnelly is enrolled as an Independence Party member. Donnelly should get the Working Families Party nomination as well as the Democratic line, with Abelove likely on the Republican and Conservative line on the ballot. Who gets the Independence line in the September primary might make the difference in the general election. Read the full story in the Albany Times Union.
