Nov 10, 2015 5:25 am
Jim Planck is reporting in The Daily Mail the Greene County Legislature Mon., Nov. 9, released its proposed 2016 budget totaling $107.6 million. The proposal includes a 1.9 percent spending increase, and requires no program eliminations or layoffs. The budget requires a tax levy increase of .73 percent, the maximum allowed under the state-mandated tax cap. Greene County Administrator Shaun Groden said that because certain spending categories are exempt from the tax cap calculation, the full tax levy will actually increase 2.31 percent. He called the proposal a “status quo,” or “maintenance" budget. County officials will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2016 spending plan at Catskill High School, Mon., Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
