3 p.m. From the Archives: The Seven Poor Travellers Inspired by the 16th Century Charity House called The Six Poor Travellers House in Rochester England by Richard Watts in 1579 to provide free lodging for poor travellers, Charles Dickens wrote himself into the story as the Seventh Traveller. The Seven Poor Travelers is the fifth Christmas number, from 1854, of his journal Household Words. This story was read by WBAI producer Frank Coffee on December 28, 1968. WGXC broadcasts from WBA1's "From the Archives" via Pacifica's Audioport.
4 p.m.: WGXC Afternoon Show: Ven. Dr. Chung Ohun Lee Ven. Dr. Chung Ohun Lee, the Executive Director and guiding spiritural teacher of Won Dharma Center in Claverack, NY and Won Buddhism of Manhattan. Lee is a recognized international leader in inter-religious dialogue and cooperation, the Co-President of Religions for Peace, the largest internaitonal interfaith organization, and has represented Won Buddhism at the United Nations since 1992. "Baconathon and Candy Day: A Youth Holiday Special," gets an airing, produced by the participants (ages 3-13) of the "We Make Radio!" workshop held at the Hudson Area Library on December 12 and 19. Hosted by Sara Kendall.

And WGXC will feature past recordings of holiday classics, experiments, and other famous holiday radio shows. Also, holiday concerts in Windham and Hudson. Lots of WGXC hosts will wander in and out with their say on the holidays, with excerpts or entire shows from Karen Schoemer, Tony Fallon, Dan Seward, Andrew Sosnowski, Shannekia McIntosh, and others. Laurence Olivier and Tom Lehrer will stop by for "A Christmas Carols." Listen to Merzbow, Scanner, and others take on "Silent Night." Gather around the radio to hear Spike Jones singing "Jingle Bells," Run DMC's "Christmas in Hollis" and Christopher Hitchens disparaging the very notion. All night until 8 a.m., Dec. 25.
