Matthew Hamilton is reporting at Capitol Confidential state Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos will remain the chamber’s top official, state Sen. Ken LaValle told reporters just before midnight, Tue., May 5. “This conference strongly believes in (the presumption of innocence),” the Long Island Republican said. “The leader has indicated that he would like to remain as leader, and he has the support of the conference.” Skelos turned himself over to authorities Monday and has been charged, along with his son Adam Skelos, with extortion, accepting bribes and honest services fraud. Skelos met with the conference Monday night.
