Mike De Socio reports for the Albany Business Review that former Rep. Chris Gibson was named president of Siena College on Feb. 14. Gibson will be the first non-friar to head the college, replacing Edward Coughlin, who died last year at age 71. Gibson is a Republican from Kinderhook who represented the 19th Congressional District for three terms, ending in 2017. Since then he then has taught at Williams College in western Massachusetts and published a book, "Rally Point." Before his political career, he was a colonel, commanding the 82nd Airborne Division’s 2nd Brigade.. “I have had three professional lives to date,” Gibson said. “Of all the callings I’ve had, this one is the strongest.” Siena College, located between Albany and Troy, has more than 3,200 students and an endowment of more than $130 million.
