Greenville's Macko pushing for special ambulance tax district

Melanie Lekocevic reports in the Greenville Pioneer that Greenville's ambulance service may get its own tax district if the town council gets its way. "We had two public hearings to set up a special district for the ambulance," Town Supervisor Paul Macko said. Greenville's ambulance service went from volunteer to paid-from-the-general-fund in 2016. A special tax district would separate its budget from the town. In 2019, Greenville set aside $277,500 in the budget for ambulance services. Macko said voters would approve ambulance budgets, just like they currently do with water, sewer, fire, and other special services. Read the full story in the Greenville Pioneer.
