Hundreds turn out for Hannaford interviews

Claude Haton writes in The Daily Mail more than 300 people applied this week to work at the new Hannaford supermarket in Cairo. Interviews were conducted at the Lutheran Church, within sight of the new 35,000-foot store, which is still under construction. The new store replaces the Great American supermarket, which served the area since the 1950s under various owners and names. Applications for cashier, produce, deli and bakery positions were accepted. In all, the market is expected to employ between 90 and 100 people. While a precise opening date has not been set, the Cairo store is anticipated to begin receiving customers by a mid-autumn.
