The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Fire Weather Watch from 12 p.m. through 4 p.m., Mon., May 4, due to low relative humidity, gusty winds and extremely dry fine fuels. The watch has been declared for east central New York, western Massachusetts and northwestern Connecticut. South to southwest winds of 5 to 15 mph, gusting up to 15 to 25 mph are expected, with even higher local winds possible. Under these conditions, fires that develop can spread rapidly and uncontrollably.

10 a.m.: The Albany Report: Dan Squadron, Susan VanDolsen, Robert Nied New York state does not permit high-volume hydraulic fracturing due to health risks as cited by Health Commissioner Howard Zucker. However, more pipelines carrying natural gas mean more transfer and compressor stations, and other infrastructure with cumulative health impacts. Health professionals, residents, elected officials and advocates from across the state are urging Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, the state Department of Environmental Conservation and the state Health Department to address the growing concern this infrastructure build-out has on residents. Susan VanDolsen of Westchester County for Change, and Robert Nied, of the Center for Sustainable Rural Communities, will be in the studio to discuss this issue. Also, state Sen.
