Gabay scholarship program now in its fourth year
May 31, 2019 1:30 pm
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo this week announced the State University of New York is now accepting applications for the Carey Gabay Memorial Scholarship. The program provides full scholarships to five students to attend four-year SUNY colleges beginning in the 2019-20 school year. The awards cover all costs of attendance, including tuition, room and board, college fees, books and supplies, and transportation and personal expenses. Applications are available at SUNY [dot] edu and must be submitted by June 30. The now four-year old program honors Carey Gabay, an attorney and public servant. Gabay grew up in public housing and attended public school in the Bronx, then went on to graduate from Harvard University and Harvard Law School. He served as an Assistant Counsel to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and later as First Deputy Counsel for the Empire State Development Corporation before his death in 2015. Read the full press release at governor [dot] NY [dot] gov.
