Rosa Acheson is reporting in the Register-Star a proposal that the city of Hudson and its school district swap land for facilities use was the subject of a discussion Mon., Jan. 9, held during the informal meeting of the Common Council. The idea was presented by the school district and involves a one-acre parcel of land owned by the city, located on the south side of Montgomery C. Smith Intermediate School on Harry Howard Avenue. The property includes two utility easements. In exchange for the land, the district would provide the Hudson Department of Youth the official use of the M.C. Smith school facilities free of charge. The Youth Department already uses a number of the school's facilities, including the gyms, tennis courts and soccer fields. Currently the scheduled use of the space is approved by the Buildings and Grounds office. If the swap is approved, the city would have formal access to the school for use by the Youth Department and other programs. Read the full story in the Register-Star.
