The day ahead on 90.7-FM
Midnight to 5:59 a.m.: Free103point9 Transmission Arts overnight
12:02 a.m.: Radio Stew: More January 2013 New Music New tracks from Wether, Bunnybrains, Carlos Giffoni, Kristen Roos, Annie Gosfield, Radiosonde, Endless Boogie, and others.
1 a.m.: Some Assembly Required: Christian Marclay Mash-up shows. Featuring work by Antediluvian Rocking Horse, dj BC, Cassetteboy, Corporal Blossom, Eddie Def, DJ Earworm, Frenchbloke, I Cut People, Christian Marclay, Mixmaster Mike, John Oswald, Radar (1), Splatt and Wax Audio.
2 a.m.: Latitude/Longitude Two hours of live performances, interviews, DJ sets, recorded songs, and more from Latitude/Longitude. Latitude/Longitude is a Brooklyn-based experimental music group that began as a duo, Michael Garofalo and Patrick McCarthy, in 2004. They became a trio in 2007, adding percussionist Jason Labbe. Their music resists description; their approach, however, does not. Pieces begin primarily as live improvisations that, when recorded, may be subsequently layered, augmented, contorted, cut down, reconstructed, or juxtaposed with seemingly unsuitable territories--all in the interest of exploring rhythmic, melodic, and textural possibility. Latitude/Longitude continue to work with diverse sonic materials: test oscillators, homemade cassette tape and field recordings, radio transmissions (FM/AM/SW/CB), toy electronics (broken and functional), and percussive junk, as well as more traditional instruments, such as pedal steel guitar, banjo, mbira, drums, cymbals, and voice.
4 a.m.: Bob's Slacktime Funhouse: Stro00odle Doktor Bugbladder, the Chief Sound Therapist of the Lymph Node Institute, knows what ails the Yeti mind--and how to tease it out, scrub it out, or blast out by projecting the host body clear to Dobbstown! Our nefariously benign Bugsy has created a solid HOUR of wordless meandering textures, alternately soothing and abrading--well, mostly abrading, but that's so it can get to the root of the problem--that weave a therapeutic sonic spell through your ravaged cortex and urge you to let go. Trust us on that. Don't worry about the subliminals, and they won't worry about you. Hosted by Rev. Susie the Floozie.
5 a.m.: A Community of Voices: Project Censored Host Vinny Cannizzaro talks with Professor Mickey Huff, director of Project Censored, a non-profit organization that tracks and reports on unnoticed and censored news.
5:30 a.m.: CounterSpin: 20130118 This is the 20th year of Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting's media analysis radio show.
