Greene County officials asking everyone to mask up in public indoor spaces, vaxed or not
Sam Raudins is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Greene County Public Health announced on July 28, it is asking everyone to wear a mask in all public indoor settings to help prevent the spread of COVID regardless of their vaccination status. The request comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention determined the county is at substantial risk of community transmission, according to a Facebook post. According to CDC data, the county has the highest rate of community transmission of the virus north of New York City. The same data shows that Columbia County and other Capital Region counties are at moderate and some northern counties are at low risk. The World Health Organization says community transmission is indicated when related cases cannot be confirmed through chains of transmission. State officials continue to consider the new CDC guidelines on masks. As of Wednesday, fully vaccinated New Yorkers are not legally required to wear a mask or facial covering in most public settings or businesses. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
