Greene Co. fire companies deployed to help with clean-up

W.T. Eckert reports in The Daily Mail three local fire departments have been deployed to help with storm cleanup in Nassau County. A request was received from the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control to deploy two engines from the Greenville Fire and the Athens Volunteer departments, and one water tanker from the East Durham Fire Company. Greenville and Athens are working in the Oceanside Fire District, the East Durham tanker is working in operations out of the Long Beach Fire District. A total of 11 firefighters offered their services: Two from East Durham, five from Greenville and four from Athens. Both men and equipment are expected home 6 p.m., Fri., Nov. 2.
