Faso slightly favored over Teachout

Political observers are calling New York's 19th Congressional District election this fall a "toss-up" or that the district "leans Republican," though it has slightly more Democrats. Democrat Zephyr Teachout and Republican John Faso are competing to replace Chris Gibson (R-Kinderhook), with at least three debates planned before November. No polls have yet been publicly released. Roll Call, The Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report, and Daily Kos say the race leans Republican, but The Cook Report predicts the election is a toss-up.
