Arthur Cusano is reporting in the Register Star Columbia Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Kenneth Flood has announced he is now authorized to solicit an engineer and perform preliminary engineering work and cost estimates for the expansion of the water and sewer districts in Ghent and Claverack. The county received three bids from engineering firms in response to a request for proposal in January. Flood will make his recommendation at the CEDC's Feb. 24 meeting. The firm chosen will detail preliminary engineering and cost estimates to bring water and sewer services to current and planned businesses within the district, including the Columbia County Airport, located in Ghent.
