Winter Storm Warning Wednesday through Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from 7 p.m., Wednesday to 7 p.m., Thursday for the WGXC listening area. Moderate to heavy amounts of snow, sleet and light freezing rain are expected Wednesday night into Thursday. Between 8 and 16 inches of snow and sleet are possible overnight, with the highest amounts expected across higher elevations. Snow is expected this evening. Heavy at times by late tonight. Sleet and freezing rain will mix in around daybreak, Thursday, and continue through the morning, turning to snow showers in the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the mid-20s tongith, warming to the lower 30s by Thursday. Heavy accumulations of snow, sleet and light accumulations of ice will make for dangerous travel late Wednesday into Thursday.
