Jim Planck is reporting in The Daily Mail the New Baltimore Town Board has announced it will hold a public hearing on the planned upgrade of Sewer District No. 1’s wastewater treatment plant. The project has been on the drawing board for several years and, coming in the wake of a completed upgrade at the system’s Mill Street pump station, it will address mechanical needs and community growth issues. The Albany-based firm, Delaware Engineering, has been working on the project, and representatives will be on hand Monday to discuss the scope of the project and funding details. The intention behind the proposal is to give the plant another 30 years of useful life. In its current state, the town's equipment has no back-up or redundancy. If an element in any part of a section fails, the system would no longer function. The town intends to seek funding from the federal government for the upgrade. The hearing will be held 6 p.m., Mon., Dec. 8, at New Baltimore Town Hall. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
