Columbia County buses lack schedules
Jan 07, 2019 12:31 am
Debby Mayer reports in The Columbia Paper that in Columbia County, the public buses might run on time, and no one could even tell. Hudson Third Ward Supervisor Michael Chameides has found that bus stops are not marked with proper signs, and buses do not adhere to a specific schedule. Chameides was first working to post bus stop signs with proper times around the county, and when he researched bus stop times, he found there was no proper schedule. “My fear is that people won’t ride the bus because they don’t know the schedule, or they wait for the bus and it doesn’t come,” he said. “That’s terrible for the rider and bad long-term for the system, as it loses riders. If we’re going to go to the trouble of providing the service, we need to provide accurate information.” Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
