New plastics plant moving to Hudson

Tom Casey reports in the Register Star plastics company Phoenix Hudson Manufacturing LLC is about to make Hudson its headquarters. The plastics extrusion plant will occupy a portion of the 70,000-square-foot building located on North Second St., once home to the Emsig Button Factory. Company president John Tonelli told the paper the lease was signed Tues., Sept. 4, and that machinery is currently being installed. The company should begin operations sometime in October. Phoenix expects to employ 20 to 25 people, in both skilled and unskilled positions, including experienced machine operators, salesmen and warehouse workers, by the end of 2012. Phoenix melts down resin pellets into plastic netting that is used for a variety of purposes, such as gauze, bags for fruits and vegetables, and for deer and construction fencing.
