Matthew Hamilton is reporting at Capitol Confidential a Quinnipiac University poll released Mon., Apr., found 48 percent of New York voters say it is time for all elected officials to be voted out of office in an effort stop high-profile corruption. The same survey showed that 86 percent of voters say government is a serious problem, but at the same time 50 percent believe Gov. Andrew Cuomo and state lawmakers will not take steps to improve government ethics this year. Quinnipiac University Poll Assistant Director Maurice Carroll said, “Can the people we elect to state government clean up the mess in Albany? Voters don’t think so. They want to clean out the Albany crowd.” While the results indicate a lack of faith in state government overall, more than 50 percent of respondents said they approve of the way their own state senator is handling her or his job, and a plurality of voters approve of the job their Assembly member is doing. “There’s no rule that people have to be consistent in their beliefs,” Carroll said.
