Music from around the world is featured. Bringing the audience into the realm of other cultures through music, hopefully expanding empathy for the “other,” and recognizing that “other” in ourselves. This week: Julien Jalal Eddine Weiss was a French born classical guitarist who early on took up the Middle Eastern lute, the Oud, and then switched to the Middle Eastern zither, the Qanun, and got deeply involved in resurrecting traditional Arab music practice eventually forming the Al-Kindi Ensemble. We sample some of his music today.
