John Mason reports in the Register Star the New York State Police have determined the Aug. 1 TCI fire was an accident, and that it originated within the building. The criminal investigation is now officially closed. However, the state Office of Fire Prevention and Control investigation is ongoing. No word yet on the cause of the blaze. The OFPC report will be released sometime in the next few weeks. Sources close to the investigation say the fire was “thousands of degrees, hot enough to melt steel,” Mason writes.
