Cost of health insurance up for Columbia Co.

Nathan Mayberg is reporting in the Register Star health insurance for Columbia County employees will increase more than five percent, based on a new agreement approved by the Insurance and Finance committees of the Columbia County Board of Supervisors. The county’s new $8.5 million health insurance plan, through MVP, will cost about $450,000 more than the previous agreement. The agreement could be the last before the county moves forward with a self-insurance plan. Self-insurance coverage could save the county up to $1 million.
