Monday Afternoon Show with Kieran Riley: Food Segment, Gili Melamed-Lev (Jazz and Classics for Change), Patrick Kiley, Lauren Chiyoko Axford, and Tianna Kennedy (New Farmer's Almanac) (Audio)

Sep 15, 2025

Today the Monday Afternoon Show brings you a new edition of "The Food Segment" during the 4 p.m. hour! After that, we'll hear from Gili Melamed-Lev, the Artistic Director of JCFC (Jazz and Classics for Change) about their upcoming concert on Saturday, September 20th at the Tydeman Farm in Germantown, NY.

During the 5 p.m. hour host Kieran Riley is joined by editor Patrick Kiley, Tianna Kennedy of Star Route Farm, and Lauren Chiyoko Axford of Historic Heath Farm Initiative to discuss the new volume of the New Farmer's Almanac from Greenhorns, and the upcoming dinner at Worlds End Farm in Esperance, NY to celebrate its release.

As a literary journal powered by farmers, for farmers, with farmers—in daily relation with the living world, Volume 7 of the New Farmer's Almanac is called PREMONITION. Literature, as in dreamworld, allows our human psyches to sort, unfold and reorganize memories and meaning. Evolutionary life, learning from extremity, unfolds with inspiration, trembles towards survival. We are earth-bound beings tuned to a world wide web of soil. Printed in full color for the first time, this Almanac challenges us to share our premonitions and respond to narratives of inevitability: what transmissions we are receiving from the living world?

Tune in for a mix of music themed on current events, interviews with artists, musicians, community members, and more live from Housatonic, Mass. Also featured are the segments:
