University of Albany expanding research

Megan Rogers at The Albany Business Review writes that The University at Albany is hoping to expand its research portfolio into data analytics, life sciences, atmospheric sciences, and cyber security as federal funding for reseach continues to decline. In 2014 University of Albany research expenditures were at $89 million, down from a few years ago, when the school regularly topped $100 million. "We of course want to increase our research expenditures and we're looking at alternative ways of doing this," said James Dias, the University of Albany's vice president for research.
