Supervisors approve agreement with dispatchers

The Columbia County Board of Supervisors approved a retroactive agreement with county 911 dispatchers during a meeting of the full board, Wed., Apr. 11, Nathan Mayberg writes in the Register Star. The contract provides the 11 members of the Dispatchers Benevolent Association pay raises ranging from 2.5 to 3 percent, longevity pay and shared health insurance costs for retirees of 50 percent or 75 percent, depending on length of service. Also on Wed., Chairman Patrick Grattan appointed a 19-member committee to negotiate the purchase of 25 Railroad Ave., long-time home to the Department of Social Services. The county has paid $425,000 a year for the past 20 years to rent the building; the property is currently assessed at $2,056,000.
