Catskill board has first look at sewer district map

Apr 17, 2014 6:38 am
William J. Kemble is reporting in the Daily Freeman the Catskill Town Board had its first look Wed., Apr. 16, at a map of a proposed $10 million sewer district that would serve Jefferson Heights and Leeds. Consultant Michael Budris told the board engineering work remains to be done on the project. Approximately 400 residential and 25 commercial properties would be served by an extension of village sewer lines that currently end in Jefferson Heights. Funding will be provided to allow the village to separate stormwater and sanitary sewer lines. Consultants expect a sewer district could be formed sometime this year. The project is intended to address problems in Leeds, where the state Department of Environmental Conservation has threatened to fine some business owners over septic system violations.
