Chatham Town Board resumes activity, prepares for hearing on STR law
Jul 28, 2020 5:45 am
Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper on the business conducted during a recent Chatham Town Board meeting. The board has entered into a contract with the Chatham Reds, a not-for profit-group that operates a traveling baseball program for kids aged 7 to 14. The group will use the baseball field at Crellin Park. Board member Vance Pitkin proposed the board fund a mailing about the broadband survey. Approximately 75 people have taken the survey online asking about internet service in the town. Pitkin said state Senator Daphne Jordan has offered her help by sending an email about the survey and writing a letter on the town’s behalf. The board reviewed a proposal from PS21, the performance space, to use land in Crellin Park that is a planned trail between the two properties for an outdoor music event. Town Supervisor Donal Collins thanked PS21 for its “continuing generosity.” Board member Kevin Weldon reported on a request from EV WATTS to collect data on the use of the electric car charging station in the municipal parking lot next to the Tracy Memorial. He said the data could be helpful to other municipalities that are thinking of putting in a charging station. At the August 6 meeting, the board will host a public hearing on the proposed regulation of short-term rentals. Collins said if there are no major changes to the regulations the board “would be voting after the public hearing” on the proposed local law. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
