William J. Kemble reports in the Daily Freeman the Caskill Town Board has agreed to pay for an audit ordered by the state after more than $500,000 was spent on flood repairs in the past two years. The board on Tues., June 4, agreed to hire the firm Pattison, Koskey, Howe and Bucci. Town Supervisor Joseph Leggio said the audit will cover all town finances. Leggio said the auditors will not be looking for anything specific. The intent of the audit is to confirm the funds were spent properly. The board also agreed to borrow $1.5 million to repair a retaining wall in the Kaaterskill Creek near Woodstock Avenue in Palenville. Federal funding is expected to cover 75 percent of the project cost, and the state will cover the remaining 25 percent. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
