All Over Albany posts about a new study that ranks the New York City to Albany route as one of the corridors with the most potential for high-speed rail. The report, from the planning/policy organization America 2050, ranked the route along the Hudson River among the top one-percent of all routes in the nation. Washington DC-NYC was the top-ranked route with a score of 20.15, while NYC-Albany route scored 19.29. The U.S. Department of Transportation has begun releasing funds for preliminary work on the Albany-NYC route to make it faster, but not the high-speed touted by this study, that would reduce the commute to one hour. Currently, the route is the fifth-most-traveled in the country, with a stop in Hudson.
