Mid-Hudson Cable adds Newsmax
Dec 20, 2020 5:53 am
Mid-Hudson Cable, the local cable television provider for much of the WGXC listening area, has added far right-wing channel Newsmax to its lineup of television stations. Mid-Hudson Cable now carries Fox News, Fox Business News, and Newsmax, three stations that all bend their news reporting to the right sometimes. The cable outlet does not carry One America News, which is also to the right of Fox News, and does carry MSNBC, which some consider has a bias towards the political left. Newsmax has the slogan, “We need more than a fox to guard against the liberal media.” Newsmax has been criticized for falsely reporting there was widespread voter fraud, and from not announcing that Joe Biden, a Democrat, won the recent presidential election. Jonathan Easley at The Hill wrote, "[President Donald] Trump has promoted both Newsmax and OAN as conservative alternatives to Fox, particularly since they’ve run with his unsubstantiated claims of widespread election fraud that he says cost him the election." Mid-Hudson Cable also added WGN, the Chicago station that has also recently launched its own nightly newcast. Mid-Hudson Cable covers much of Greene, and some of Columbia County, and southern Albany County. Full disclosure: Mid-Hudson Cable is an underwriter for WGXC.
