Hallenbeck sworn in as Hudson's mayor

Jeff Alexander reports in the Register-Star on the swearing in of Hudson's new Mayor, William Hallenbeck. The new mayor was sworn in Sun., Jan. 1, in front of a capacity crowd at City Hall. Hallenbeck praised his predecessor, Rick Scalera, and also his opponent, Nick Haddad, for running a tough campaign. The city is in contract negotiations with the Department of Public Works and the Police Deptartment. Hallenbeck told the paper those negotiations and job creation would be his two top priorities once taking office. November's election was close, with the Democrats first insisting on an absentee ballot count and then challenging the counting method. Hallenbeck, a Republican, has appointed a Democrat, Gene Shetsky, to be his aide. Read the full story in the Register-Star.
