Joe Gentile is reporting in the Register Star the Columbia Economic Development Corporation Tues., July 29, approved the sale of 33 acres of Columbia County-owned land to Ginsberg’s Foods. The parcel is located in the towns and Claverack and Ghent, and will be used for the company’s proposed expansion. The sale price was not disclosed. The food distributor hopes to break ground in October for a new warehouse and maintenance facility on Route 66, directly across from the Gerald R. Simons Industrial Park. Once complete, the building's total footprint will be approximately 300,000 square feet, and include nearly 300 car parking spaces and more than 160 tractor-trailer spaces. The project has not yet been approved by the Claverack or Ghent Planning boards.
