Cuomo chooses Kathy Hochul as running mate

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has chosen former Buffalo-area Congresswoman Kathy Hochul (HOKE-ul) as his new running mate. She is replacing former Rochester Mayor Bob Duffy on the Democratic ticket. The announcement was made by Cuomo Wed., May 21, in a video announcement played for delegates at the state Democratic convention on Long Island: PLAY (:36) A former county clerk, Hochul won the Congressional seat in 2011. She was defeated a year later by Erie County Executive Chris Collins. If elected, Hochul will be the first Democratic female Lt. Governor in New York in more than 35 years.
