May 05, 2015 12:03 am
Emilia Teasdale in The Columbia Paper reports the Chatham Village Board has approved a $1.1 million budget for next year, which includes a tax levy increase that falls under the state mandated tax cap. The action was taken during a special meeting April 23. The spending plans goes into effect June 1. The budget allows for a few pay raises for part-time police officers and town officials, and an additional full-time position to be shared between the Department of Works and the Sewer budget lines. The board also extended a six-month moratorium on major subdivisions and commercial or industrial-use buildings in the village, as it works to adopt an updated comprehensive plan. The next Chatham Village Board meeting is 7 p.m., May 14 with a public hearing about putting a handicap parking space on Main Street. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
