Winter Storm Warning issued for western Greene

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Winter Storm Warning for western Greene, Ulster and Albany counties, including the towns of Hunter, Tannersville, Windham, Ellenville, Woodstock and Phoenicia, through 7 a.m., Thurs., Dec. 11. Moderate to heavy snow with brief periods of sleet and freezing rain are expected. Snow accumulations of 7 to 14 inches Tuesday night, with an additional accumulation of 2 to 4 inches through the day Wednesday, into Wednesday night are possible. The snow will mix with some sleet, freezing rain and rain Tuesday night. An additional period of snow will occur Wednesday afternoon into overnight, before tapering to snow showers by Thursday morning. The severe weather conditions will make travel dangerous. Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. is warning customers these conditions may cause trees and limbs to contact or fall onto power lines, resulting in electric service interruptions. Central Hudson reports approximately 115 mutual aid line personnel and support staff from Massachusetts, Ohio and Pennsylvania have arrived to assist local crews, as needed.
