Catskill PD re-accredited by NY OPA

Kyle Adams writes in The Daily Mail the Catskill Police Department has been re-accredited by the New York State Office of Public Safety, five years after its initial accreditation in 2009. The Catskill department is the only accredited full-time police agency, other than the state police, in Greene Co. To become accredited, an agency must comply with more than 100 standards in administration, training and operations. There are 143 accredited agencies across the state. The Catskill department was founded in 1806, and employs 28 full-time and part-time employees. Kathy Ventura, the police department’s civilian administrator, was awarded a citation for her work in helping the agency meet the accreditation standards, said Catskill Village Trustee and chairman of the Public Safety Committee Jim Chewens.
